For children, loss of family through divorce, is a permanent loss. They can never return to "home". What happens when a child loses their step mom because their dad divorces and then they lose their step dad because their mom divorces? They essentially have lost the family of origin, the family of step mom's house, the family of step dad's house. This is insane loss.
